WOTD

When it finally sunk in that she was gone, Alfonso steeled himself against the tsunami of pain he could see cresting. It wasn’t a conscious effort that he made to shut out all emotion, both happy and sad, but it was the only way his heart could cope with the loss. He became impassible, and was experiencing life only slightly more than one of the old, broken-down machines on his work bench.
