The Circus

Kris and I were invited to the circus this Friday by my coworker Nick. He brought his whole family and his six year old son brought the girl from across the fence ^_^. Kris and I didn’t get much of a chance to talk to Nick since he was on the other side with the kids, but we did get to chat a bit at intermission. At least now he’ll have to stop teasing me that Kris isn’t real.

I didn’t know how much I love the circus until Friday. Part of it is the three ring set up, and you’ve always got something going on to the point where it is hard to take it all in. If you focus in on one thing for too long then you’re missing something else.

The other part is that people can’t help but smile. Even the parents who thought they were going just for their kids were standing up and jumping with the theme song. You could see people trying to look bored, but the grin was creeping up on them in the corners of their mouth.

There were also no scary clowns (for those of you who fear the clown). Almost no one had the white makeup and red nose. The main clown was still funny, and dressed comically, but not in the traditional garb that most people associate with clowns. So for those of you who avoided the circus because you are afraid of clowns, poo on you!
